Having first been rumored back in 2019, the Jordan 5 Alternate Grape has, until recently, only existed in mock-ups. First and on-foot looks couldn’t have arrived at a better time given that official images of the Jordan 5 “Fire Red” surfaced this week, alongside speculation that Virgil Abloh has another Off White Jordan 5 in the works.
Akin to the latter, the “Alternate Grape” shares Fresh Prince-approved “New Emerald” shark-tooth shapes on the midsole. This vibrant hue also takes over Jumpman logos on the tongue and lace toggles, just as on 2013’s “Black Grape” version of the ’90 silhouette. “Black” complements the of-the-era flair across the throat and midsole, leaving the upper’s abundant suede paneling to revel in the “Grape Ice” responsible for this AJ5’s nickname.
The Jordan 5 “Alternate Grape” is scheduled for a June 27th launch on Nike.com. All release dates, however, are subject to change given the current COVID-19 pandemic. For now, enjoy a closer look at the shoes here below and bookmark our Jordan Release Dates 2020calendar when you’re done.
