With her inaugural Nike collaboration, Ruohan Wang has opted to celebrate the Earth, the artist using the Blazer Mid, Air Max 90, and Air Force 1 as the mediums for her expression. And after a few early teases of the pack not too long ago, the latter silhouette has finally surfaced by way of official images, its upper revealing a free form mosaic replete with many a motif.
While Earth-centered, the pair does delve into themes adjacent — all, however, undoubtedly of the same intentionally crude art style. Anthropomorphic figures sprawl along the forefoot, swoosh, and heel in seldom, either speaking via Chinese characters, looking towards quickly pencil’d portraits of the planet, or holding it as if reminiscent of Atlas. Elsewhere, florals are reinterpreted through Wang’s lens against brighter blue backdrops, a shade that is well-utilized along the various Flyleather paneling as well as the artist’s signature-clad tongue tab. The palette, then, increases in volume as pastel pinks, saturated reds, and yellows work their way along the majority of the construction alongside more infrequent hits of light brown, grey, and white.
