Run The Jewels x Nike SB Dunk

All things culture — from the culinary arts to the most iconic of video games — seem to converge in one place: the sneakersphere. Music is even more intertwined with the industry, as artists the likes of Drake, Travis Scott, and Kanye West have received countless collaborative releases throughout their respective careers. Soon, even Run The Jewels will be getting their own, long overdue pair of kicks and it’s all thanks to Nike SB. Following leaks late last year, official images of both Run The Jewels x Nike SB Dunks have surfaced ahead of their release later this April. Between the two, the Dunk Low is by far the most straightforward in its design, opting for a rather simple colorway comprised mainly of “Deep Royal Blue” and “Blue Chill.” Alongside dressing the shoe’s suede construction, these cool tones highlight the transparent sole unit as well as the “Run The Jewels” markings visible underfoot. While additional nods to the hip-hop duo are also present on the insoles — which features both the hand gun and fist logos — exterior references are few and far between. This, however, is not quite the case with the accompanying Dunk High. In addition to chiseling its Swoosh in the image of a jewel, the design turns Killer Mike and El-P’s signature insignia into crystallized dubraes, two variations of which — one gold, the other dark grey — come included with every pair. And besides executing its insole branding in a similar manner, these share little similarities with it above-mentioned counterpart, featuring faux fur overlays and a leather base clad in “Active Pink” and dark neutrals, respectively.
